Kog do love people supporting the original grand chase if people do so legally but if people do it illegally then they is bound to have trouble with KOG I think I remember telling a GM about hosting a server and they didn't ban me in game because my opinions reflect on my feelings for the original game I hate to break the sad reality but KOG studios hate illegal publishers I remember one or two GMs saying "we don't recommend people hosting private servers please get them off those servers " something like that. Studios, devs lose money to p-servers all the time Blizzard had to shut down a huge private server to recover money I think it has to do with Kog losing revenue but wasn't Kog at fault for leaking the server files to the public they shut the original grand chase game stopping the development since it was causing them money and low player base turn out means less revenue but bare with me I have a possible theory you see all these p-server communities claims to be publishers Kog studios thinks its illegal if you load up any p-server you may noticed that in the copyright sections they include their own community as a publisher when instead they don't do that adding self as own publisher puts people at risk of getting sued.
Grand chase origin english how to#
but even for those who may know how to get that done, I don't think publicly discussing such a technique on a reddit where a KOG-employed GM has mod status is the best idea.Īctually there is risks when having a private server you can get sued and be forced to pay money to the devs I had a chat with a GM about this they said they couldn't touch a private server but then when a mobile game under same name appears then KOG be like " Your server goes down shut it down you hosted a unlicensed IP server " private servers were not touched until Christmas 2020 meaning KOG was just biding their time to strike down servers any p-server with KOG's logo in it means you illegally stealing the grand chase trademark. Theoretically, you could have a singleplayer instance up if you knew how to make your own private server and just didn't distribute a way for others to access it. Those details aren't really circulating around.Īs far as a singleplayer option - I have no idea on how to get one working, and KOG isn't likely to offer one any time soon (since they haven't offered one in the last 5 years). The servers could have just gotten Cease and Desist letters and decided to err on the side of caution (or took things down temporarily while they look at their options), or they could have had full-blown lawsuits filed against them. We don't have any of the details of why KOG made their decision (they don't have to offer such reasoning to the public), and I haven't seen the private servers post the contents of any takedown letters or lawsuits. The various private servers' Facebook pages have been taken down, and GC Madness's main website appears to be down. The only info I've seen is in the GC History discord.
